AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS
Penfold Theatre Company
June 1-24th
Director: Emily Rankin
Scenic Designer: Chris Conard
Costume Designer: Jessi Rose Lowerre
The biggest challenge of being props master for this production was having a limited budget. Most of the props used were rented from Southwestern University, found in Penfold Theatre's storage or borrowed from members of the company, or purchased.
Rolls of money:
I printed copies of bank notes and taped them around rolls of paper.

Pocket knives:
Instead of using real pocket knives I cut pieces of cardboard using a template I found online and attached them with brads so that they could move like real knives.

Bradshaw's Continental Railway Guide and General Handbook:
Because it wasn't practical or necessary to purchase a copy of the exact book mentioned, a red book of similar size was borrowed from a member of the company.

Some of the props chosen were cut during the course of rehearsals, because the concept of the show was to act more as a trunk show with quick scene changes.
An important moment in the show is the when the characters are being chased my a mongoose in India, so a ferret plush was used.

The director, Emily Rankin, requested no glass or china props be used to prevent them from breaking on the concrete floor. Facsimile tea cups were used, plastic champagne flutes, and I made a plastic champagne bottle out of a green plastic bottle, foil, and printed champagne label.
